In client-server-based interactive information visualization user interfaces, multimedia data sets of many types are made accessible by a server. Users request such multimedia data sets and client user interfaces visualize them applying a given information visualization mapping. On the server side, these multimedia data sets can, e.g., be stored in a file system. As soon as a user requests the multimedia data set, it will be transmitted from the server to the requesting client.
